After working as an exploration geologist on projects across Canada, Mr. Ostry was employed by the Manitoba Government in 1984 as a mineral deposits geologist, and later served as Manager of Minerals Policy and Business Development for 15 years until 2009. In the latter position he focused on strategies to attract mineral investment and development in the province through the enhancement of fiscal, policy and regulatory frameworks. After retiring from the government Mr Ostry served as an independent director on the boards of several VSX listed companies, Halo Resources Ltd, Great Northern Gold Exploration Corporation and most recently the Chairman and director of VMS Ventures Inc. until its takeover in 2016.
